It is too easy and delicious to make vanilla extract. Not the crummy, fake imitation vanilla extract but real vanilla. You can buy vanilla bean pods online or at specialty stores and Whole Foods.
Grab a bottle of vodka or rum. Take 4-5 vanilla bean pods and cut them lengthwise. Scoop out the little black seeds inside. Ideally the pods are soft and the inside is gooey but when they start to dry out it will be crumbly. Open alcohol bottle and insert the vanilla bean pods and seeds. Close the top and set it aside for a about 2 months shaking to distribute about every week. Then you have your own homemade non-toxic delicious vanilla extract. Use in recipes when it calls for vanilla extract. Obviously you will not be able to have it for this month. Make it now!

Ok let's get things kicked off with a little non toxic home product. I like to use a little shake of natural carpet and rug powder to deodorize before I vac. It smells sooo super clean and has no artificial perfumes to irritate my delicate nose like those boxed Glade and Carpet Fresh one have. I even shake a bit in the kitty litter box. Grab a cutie mason jar and toss in equal parts borax and baking soda. I found a shaker lid at target in the kitchen section near their mason jar supplies. I added 10 drops purification and 5 drops lemon oils. Shake on rugs, wait 10 min then vac away. Holy clean! If you do not want to use Borax then using just baking soda is totally fine. It is a great odor absorber. If I have to spot clean I wet the rug then sprinkle, let sit and use a scrub brush to work the stain. When you use non toxic products you might need more muscle than the chemical ones require.
